Visiting the White House
It is an international landmark, and of course, the home of the President of the United States, the White House is a great and beautiful structure which obtains abundant history, as well as having art works and marvellous interior decorations. The structure has 6 stories, 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, diet kitchen, game room, swimming pool, bowling alley, 28 fireplaces, and a movie theatre. Located outside the structure are tennis courts, a basketball court, a fountain, putting green, and elegant gardens. The tour however, would only include some parts of the front and exterior of the building due to security protocols that are strictly implemented. Outside, in some instances, you would also see the Presidents’ vehicle called “The Beast”. This automobile’s details however, including the vehicles engine displacement, is kept confidential.
The Lincoln Memorial
The memorial of the sixteenth president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, is well preserved and is located at the National Mall’s West Potomac Park. You will see this structure opposite the Washington Monument. It was designed by Henry Bacon and created by Daniel Chester French. Inside, you will see murals painted by Jules Guerin. The marble structure consists of 36 tall columns that are around the building.
Cherry Blossoms PUB
Located at 1843 7th Street NW, this pop up bar was a very successful even last year as well. It is usually held on the 1st of March to the 29th of April. This Cherry Blossom PUB is all lighted up and full of dazzling decorations which will surely be a great place to unwind. Bountiful festive cocktails, Japanese whisky, and a lot more of blossomed-themed drinks are available. Remember that this event is seasonal so make sure not to miss it. What’s more this pub is dog friendly so if you’re travelling with your pooch this is the perfect stopover.
McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood and Steaks
This delightful restaurant is located at K Street, next to Farragut Square. It is just 2 blocks from the White House. This place has fresh seafood and shellfish. Their garden fresh salads and aged steaks will definitely exceed one’s expectations. They have a variety of choices from seafood obtained from the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Rim, and the Mexican Gulf. The bar area is unique, having vast selections of wine, cocktails, beers, and trendy drinks. Visit this place during “Happy Hour” and enjoy their reasonable and appealing prices.
The National Air and Space Museum
Among the most famous Smithsonian museums, DC’s National Air and Space Museum is dedicated to everything regarding aeronautic technology from the past, to some of the present. There is an IMAX theatre that features shows and educational clips the whole day round. You will also see a planetarium that shows the greatness and beauty of our solar system.
There are many more places to visit in Washington DC. Within the center of this area, it would be possible to walk from place to place. Bike rentals are also available to get from point A to point B much quicker and with less expense as well.
